The ECU Pirates

Cutter Creek residents looking for spectator sports need look no further than the nearby campus of East Carolina University. Home of the Pirates, ECU offers a wide variety of men's and women's sports, along with events that range from game day tail gate parties to Pirate Club fan, friend and alumni events to fund scholarships for student-athletes, athletic facility improvements and other program needs. The enthusiasm of a Pirate's fan can be seen everyday as much of Greenville shows its support in the ECU purple and gold.

It's interesting to note that athletics at East Carolina University receives no tax money for any phase of its operation. All gate receipts, television revenue, and other income generated by athletic events (football and men's basketball) are used to meet day-to-day operating expenses of the university's 21 varsity sports. Without the financial support provided by the Pirate Club, the successful athletics programs would not be possible.
